Challenges

In many companies, the IT/OT landscape has grown organically over many years: new systems, applications and interfaces have been added gradually, driven by current projects, requirements and framework conditions. What used to be pragmatic often leads today to a heterogeneous and complex system environment that is difficult to control, expand and integrate reliably.

Typical challenges

  • Data silos and lack of transparency
    • Production, logistics and IT systems operate in isolation with different data formats.
    • Lack of consistency and limited access to real-time information.
  • Complex point-to-point integrations
    • Historically grown, unstructured interface landscape (‘spaghetti architecture’).
    • High maintenance costs and low flexibility when changes are required.
  • Lack of integration strategy and governance
    • No central architecture or standards for data flows and interfaces.
    • Media breaks and redundant data flows between systems.
  • Technological proliferation and gap between IT and OT
    • Different platforms, protocols and responsibilities.
    • Difficult end-to-end integration and low future viability (cloud, AI, IoT).

This is exactly where our architecture workshop comes in: Together with you, we develop a clear, scalable and future-proof integration architecture that fits your existing system landscape. You receive a comprehensively documented target vision, concrete areas of action and a prioritised roadmap that you can use to simplify and standardise your IT/OT integration step by step and make it manageable in the long term.

Before the workshop

Before the workshop, we invite you to an online meeting (approx. 30 minutes). During this meeting, you can explain your most important topics, such as current problems and the potential within your company. Based on this information, we can address topics that are fundamental to you during the workshop in order to achieve the best possible results for your company.

Target group

  • IT management and IT architects
  • Subject matter experts from various departments (business, operations, development, etc.)
  • Decision-makers and project managers

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of the current IT structure and business processes
  • Basic knowledge of IT architectures and IT management processes
  • Basic understanding of integration solutions
  • Willingness to actively participate and engage in discussion
  • Openness to change and new ideas

Workshop overview

  • Introduction to enterprise architecture management
  • Introduction to Orchestra Reference architectures
  • Objectives and scoping
  • Analysis of the current situation and inventory
    • Analysis of processes, systems and infrastructure across various architecture levels
    • Identification of challenges and problems
  • Design-to-be architecture and integration development
    • Requirements and vision for the future architecture
    • Design of the target architecture
    • Operational considerations
  • Prioritisation and implementation plan

The results and their benefits

  • Clear and documented target architecture for future IT/OT integrations
  • Structured basis for decision-making on technology and platform strategies
  • Identification of specific areas for action and priorities
  • Foundation for a standardised, scalable and future-proof integration solution
